Overwatch Actor’s Lab

Twice per month we film professionally written scenes specifically designed for actors in the program.

These scenes are shot using cinema grade cameras, professional lighting, and cinematic framing inside our 3,200 square foot production studio.

You are not just rehearsing scenes.

You are filming footage that can go directly into your demo reel.

Once per month a professional photographer will join the program to photograph students and help build strong theatrical and commercial headshots.

Over time this allows actors to build a versatile portfolio that reflects multiple character types.

One of the most valuable parts of this program is something called Behind The Curtain Day.

Each week we will look at real examples from the industry including:

• Actor submission examples from past projects
• IMDb profiles of working actors
• Casting breakdowns
• What directors and producers actually look for when reviewing actors

Most actors never get to see this side of the industry.

This gives you a clear understanding of the competition and how casting decisions are actually made.

Overwatch Actor’s Lab is taught by award winning filmmaker Andrew Kiaroscuro, who has spent over 20 years working in film.

Andrew has:

• Written, directed, produced, shot, and edited numerous projects
• Cast hundreds of actors
• Won Best Picture at the Sunscreen Film Festival
• Won Best Florida Feature Film at the Gasparilla Film Festival

This means students are learning directly from someone who actively casts actors for projects.

Through relationships built from producing The Suncoast Podcast, we have access to many local businesses that are open to hosting film scenes.

This allows actors to film scenes in real environments such as:

• cafés
• restaurants
• retail shops
• workshops and garages

This creates far more realistic demo reel footage than filming everything in a classroom.
